The Peer Mentor Program at Vanier is going to be enriched this year with a new training program, increased support from student clubs and a study space in Vanier for Economics students. Combining the enriched Peer Mentor Program with the changes to the ESA structure and operation, specifically our outreach and engagement through class representatives and social media, will push the attendance of these study sessions to new levels.
As well, the relationship between the Department of Economics and the ESA is stronger than ever so we hope that we can collaborate together to ensure that Teaching Assistants and potentially Professors are in attendance. Typically, TA’s and Professors host extra office hours during the exam time; however, the ESA believes that in lieu of those office hours, they should attend our study sessions and provide support to a large number of students over an extended period.
Ideally, the ESA would like to see a significant increase in the academic performance of students next year, especially in the mandatory 1000 and 2000 level courses.
